Description
Lively and mineral Chenin from Nadège Herbel. Ripe style and completely à la Nadège full of character, finesse, elegance and beautifully balanced. The grapes come for 30% from very old vines from 1920 on a terroir of schist. Beautiful expression of both terroir and winemaker.
Or, as Nadège herself beautifully quotes;
" Quite the discovery of the secrets " Salvador Dali
This small 3 ha estate in St.Lambert du Lattay (Anjou) has been run by Nadège and Laurent Herbel since 2005. Since 2018, however, the estate has been entirely owned by vigneronne Nadège and in 2020, as a significant step, she launched her three own Nadège cuvées, with more planned. The estate is completely biodynamic and the vinification is natural. The vineyards are located near Anjou but are deliberately labelled vin de France, because, so rightly, it is about the wine and terroir and not about the appellation. She mainly grows Chenin Blanc there, with in particular 0.3 ha of very old vines, planted between 1920 and 1921, as well as 1.40 ha of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from 1974. In 2020, she also planted part of Pineau d'Aunis as an independent vigneronne .
