Description
Kékfrankos is the most important dark grape variety of the Balaton region. That is not surprising, because it comes in all shapes and sizes and can perhaps therefore let the terroir of Balaton speak so precisely. This '22 vintage is deep in color, powerful, clear dark fruity and remains light-footed. Very impressive all round. The best so far, we think.
- Country / Region: Hungary / Balaton
- Winery: Grand vin de Barnag
-
Grapes: 100% Kékfrankos
-
In the vineyard: Fully organic farming. The grapes come from two completely different vineyards: the volcanic Hegyestű vineyard on the edge of the Kali Basin, and the limestone Király-domb vineyard in Pécsely. Hand-picked during three rounds.
- In the cellar: A combination of many different processing methods, as diverse as the vineyards. Part undergoes whole bunch maceration, part gets foot crushing maceration, a lot of direct press juice is used, a final part of the grapes is destemmed for a short skin maceration. The result is 9 full barrels that mature for 1 year with the lees.
Unfiltered, bottled without the addition of So2.
- Quality mark: Vin Nature
