Description
Naturally made resin wine from Macedonia (Greece). For at least 3000 years, Retsina has been the national drink of the Greeks. Retsina means resin and since ancient times this wine was stored in amphoras that were sealed with pine resin. This gave the wine a natural resin taste. This retsina from Kamara Estate is also produced biodynamically without the addition of sulphur and without clarification or filtering. Made from the indigenous Assyrtiko grape, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. During fermentation, small pieces of resin from the Aleppo pine tree, originating from the mountains of the island of Evia, are added to the must. This gives the retsina its unique character and aroma.
Kamara Estate. The Kioutsoukis family, led by Dimitrios and his daughter Stavroula, produces pure wines based on biodynamic principles. They themselves see biodynamics primarily as an intermediate phase towards full permaculture, an ecologically sustainable system in which the estate is in complete harmony with nature. The aim is to produce wines that are both versatile and an expression of this philosophy and terroir with as little intervention as possible.
