Description
Pansa Blanca is the Catalan name for the grape Xarel-lo. The wine Sarriera is a powerful style Pansa Blanca and shows that the grape can be quite fully ripe without being sweet.
Gleva Estates is the umbrella producer of 7 organic wineries from Penedès. The wineries work both individually and cooperatively. Each winery has its own style. However, the winegrowers give each other tips for viticulture, vinification and work as a whole to give the area a better (organic) name.
The Alella wine region is only 10km in size and is located near Barcelona. The characteristic sandy subsoil is called “sauló". The soil is low in nutrients, which means the vines have to fight even harder to survive. This kind of stress is actually good for the wine. 3,700 vines per hectare. 'Gobelet' for the older vines, 'cordon royat' for the new vines.
