Description
This new wine is born from a collaboration with a wine estate in the neighboring village of Marcigliano: San Pietro. The grapes are those of the Mazzarosa - which give their name to the cuvée - and the vinification is from Valgiano. A biodynamic wine with expression for the terroir. The label was designed by artist Sara Di Giovanni. The design combines the town of Lucca as an important center of Italian comics, with the horn of biodynamics and a Tuscan hilly background. Mazzapink is an easy to drink wine. Certainly for lovers of Tuscan red wines. Owner Moreno Petrini said it in his own words: "se bevi Mazzapink puoi capire meglio gli altri vini di Tenuta di Valgiano" translated: "if you drink Mazzapink, you can better understand the other wines of Tenuta di Valgiano." Beautifully juicy, fruity and lush! Melted tannins and a fine playful aftertaste.
In Tuscany, the great wines are known mainly from Montalcino, the Chianti-clasico municipalities and from Bolgheri. From the latter come the famous "Super-Tuscan" wines, Tuscan powerhouses that, against the rules of the DOC, consist of non-indigenous grape varieties. Often a blend of Sangiovese with French varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Tenuta di Valgiano is located in the picturesque Lucca (DOC Colline Lucchesi), which is less known by name than Bolgheri but is certainly not inferior in quality!
