LINEA - also stands for the A-line. Wines that fall under Linea are the result of the highest ripeness and complexity. They are only made in the very best years and show the interplay of the grape variety, the soil and the winemaker. This Pinot Gris with 20% skin maceration is exactly that, a manifestation of. Dry and gastronomic, with aromas of juicy pears, fennel, lychee and notes of peanuts and caramel. Decanting well in advance is a must.
Since 1982, the Ploder family has been growing quality fruit, nectar and wine in 'Vulkanland', which is in the south of Styria (South-East Austria, just above Maribor). An area full of mountains and hills with an enormous diversity of soils.
In 2006, the first PIWI vines were planted and the Ploder family started biodynamic farming. A year later, all orchards and vineyards were fully biodynamically farmed.
The farm and its surroundings have an enormous natural diversity, which offers great opportunities not only now but also in the future. The aim is for the company to be able to provide for its own needs for fertilizers and resources as much as possible. The “lifelines of the farm” are the different types of agriculture. So: livestock breeding, growing vegetables, fruit and wine, but also creating and maintaining hedges, forests, biotopes with wet and dry meadows, wilderness areas, rainwater storage, compost heaps, greenhouses, herb terraces, beehives, chicken coops, sheepfolds, solar energy and vegetable and fruit storage!
The various 'Essence From the Amphorae' wines that Manuel makes are absolutely special, pure and clean. For example, he grows rhubarb to then make a concentrate from it, which is sprayed over the vineyards. This means that no sulphites need to be added to the wine. Even after 3 weeks, the wine does not become 'mousy' and retains its minerals and aromas. The harmonious way in which Manuel Ploder and his family make (natural) wine is of a particularly high level.
