Description
The Beaujolais Nouveau from Château de Lavernette used to sell out in no time. A shame, we thought, because it is a wonderfully fruity, light, juicy and cheerful red natural wine. One that you would also like to drink later in the year. In the summer, for example. Just an idea. And so we stocked up extensively this year. Nice and lightly chilled with the barbecue or a plate of charcuterie. No more Nouveau in the meantime, but Le Jeune is and remains just as delicious. Take care of what summer can be, long evenings with many friends, with the two of you or perhaps alone, it doesn't matter in principle.
On the border of Burgundy and Beaujolais, at the crossroads of the Mâconnais and Beaujolais between the villages of Leynes and Chaintré to be precise, lies Château de Lavernette. The estate has been under the authority of the monks of the Tournus Abbey since 1596, who were the lords of the area at the time. The vineyards were already part of the estate at that time and there was also a "tinailler" (wine storage) with two presses and four large tanks. Today, the property of Château de Lavernette belongs to the de Boissieu family, descendants of the Lavernette family. For generations, they have been making different styles of Pouilly-Fuissé, Beaujolais and Beaujolais Blanc.
The vineyard has been cultivated since 2005 according to the techniques of organic farming, with respect for land and nature in order to create beautiful terroir wines. Since 2007 they work completely biodynamically. Xavier, son of Bertrand and Anke, and Kerrie, his wife, all work together on the family estate. Through the diverse combination of their qualities, experiences and knowledge they know how to produce first class Burgundy wines at Chateau Lavernette. And also a young, playful Beaujolais.
