Description
100% Fiano Minutolo, local indigenous grape variety, with a very long skin maceration of 6 months. Only produced in a very small edition. Despite the long maceration still a very nice freshness with soft, elegant tannins. That Minutolo can apparently take something. Vin nature pur sang.
In the Itria Valley, Brindisi, Puglia, Vittorio works as the very first natural wine maker in the area. At 300 meters altitude, on a soil consisting mainly of red clay, typical of the region, he works largely with indigenous, forgotten grape varieties. Semi-macertion carbonique and with as little extraction as possible he produces very juicy, mineral wines, low in alcohol, unlike other wine products from the valley.
Believe it or not, Vittorio Pugliese only became familiar with the concept of natural wine in 2017. In a very short time, he found his true passion. He studied like crazy, participated in many fairs around the world, tasted, tasted and tasted, tried to understand the whole process and soon felt that he wanted to be part of that world that he started to love.
The original idea was to open a wine bar in Bari. A few months later, COVID came around the corner. His eye fell on a piece of land with abandoned vines in the Itria Valley where, without a local reference point, he works completely intuitively, so to speak. Intuition or not, talent is in any case, the result is impressive. With 2020 as the very first vintage, almost disturbingly clean, subtle and elegant natural wines, each with its own personality, unusual for the area. On our shelves.
