Description
Fine fresh but also rich and slightly honeyed Loire Chenin Blanc. Mineral, tasteful natural wine. Much depth and very pure natural wine.
The Domaine Pithon-Paillé was founded in 2008, but Jo Pithon (one of the four founders) has been working his vineyards in the "low-intervention" way since 1978 (which was really unheard of at the time). Pithon-Paille is therefore rightly a pioneer in the natural wine movement. Around 2018, a lot has changed. Joseph has moved to the South of France (where his wife Wendy Paillé is a winemaker at Le Soula) and Jo Pithon's son did not want to become a winegrower. So problems at Pithon-Paillé because Jo Pithon is not a marketing man, he prefers to work in the vineyard. Chenin blanc fanatic Ivan Massonat (CEO of a trust fund) had been working for years in oenology and studying the different appellations of the Loire. He has taken over Pithon-Paillé and Jo Pithon continues to work in the vineyards as a winegrower! The vineyards (13 ha) are located in the Loire valley 25 km south of Angers
