Description
Exciting Frühburgunder, light elegant and with depth. Beautiful complex red wine.
Katja and Jens Bäder's plots are only 6 hectares in size around the small village of Wendelsheim in Rheinhessen. Katja and Jens use a modern style of winemaking and have gained experience all over the world.
Frühburgunder is a mutation of Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). The Frühburgunder of the Bäder family ripens 4 to 6 weeks earlier than Spätburgunder. As a result, the sugars have not yet been able to fully develop in the grape and it is also somewhat fresher in style. There are also Frühburgunder that ripen only 2 weeks earlier, but these are closer to Spätburgunder. There are many different styles of Frühburgunder and some wines can also age quite well!
In the vineyard: Heiligenpfad is the name of the vineyard that has a very characteristic subsoil of dark melaphyr. Melaphyr is rough, stony. A demanding volcanic topsoil that mineral and sharp character to the wine. This top layer retains heat well and returns it to the vines at night.
